Practical Tips and Resources for Carnivore/Lion Diet

Tips and links to things that will help you on your journey…

When on your Carnivore journey there are some things to keep in mind and to know!

  • Watch videos on YouTube of these recommended channels to research what will work best for you!

  • When you are on your journey don’t forget to have your electrolytes handy, just in case you go through your detox phase. I tried these and they worked for me. I have no affiliation with them, they just work!

  • Whenever possible, choose red meat from ruminant animals like beef, lamb, and goat. These animals have 3-4 stomachs that efficiently filter out toxins from their food, ensuring cleaner and healthier meat for you. Ribeye steaks are, of course, the best in my opinion.

  • Avoid buying pre-cut meats from stores or butcheries. Instead, request whole slabs of meat. This allows you to slice the meat to your preferred thickness, ideally 3-5 cm or more. Plus, purchasing whole slabs can save you money, as stores often charge extra for pre-cut pieces.

  • Aim to increase your intake of animal fat to the maximum you can comfortably handle. You’ll know you’ve overdone it if your bowel movements become too loose. If this happens, reduce your fat intake. Finding the right balance will provide you with optimal energy and maintain healthy bowel function. Also take a look at using either Butter or Beef Tallow. I love using Beef Tallow to broiling succulent Ribeye steaks. Check out my Blog for more info on the Tallow I use.

  • To avoid overeating or under-eating, listen to your body as it adjusts. Eat red meat until you feel fully satisfied—essentially, until you can no longer eat or your body signals that you don’t want more. This is the indication that you’ve had enough. Believe me, the next time you are hungry you will eat mean again :-).

  • Drink lots of water and don’t forget to SALT your food. If you lack in salt you will feel it. The meat won’t taste so good and you will get lethargic. When this happens, have some electrolytes once again in your water and voila!

  • Before you go to bed at night and when you wake up in the morning, drink about 500 ml of water if you can. This will ensure you remain hydrated at night and it will ensure you start your mornings well!

  • Do more research online and join a community of like minded people also going through the same journey. This will assist you in your process of adjusting and you will also learn a lot and progress more successfully. Steak and Butter Gal has a great community!
