My Journey to Recovery and Health Transformation

On the night of February 16, 2024, at around 11 PM, I suffered a first-degree burn accident. In urgent need of medical attention, I rushed to the University Hospital in Cardiff, Wales. I spent six hours being attended to by exceptionally professional doctors and nurses. One of the doctors stood out from the three who treated my burns on my left hand. She detailed various protocols I needed to follow for optimal healing. Among the advice she gave, one recommendation particularly struck me: increase my intake of water (up to 3-4 liters) and significantly boost my consumption of protein rich in collagen.
After the trauma of the incident, I returned home at 7 AM on February 17, 2024. Fortunately, I didn’t need any painkillers immediately, but I did start taking them the next morning. After a restless morning of sleep, I embarked on my recovery journey. It was challenging to manage everything with only my right hand, but I persevered.
Let’s backtrack a bit! Before the accident, I had been researching ways to improve my health because I was gaining weight rapidly and feeling increasingly unhealthy, despite following doctors’ and dieticians’ advice on a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, I saw no improvements, I saw a rapid decline in my health and rapid weight gain. This concerned me because eating vegetables, fruits and carbohydrates was not supposed to do this. Please understand I used to eat these foods, however I was told by doctors and dieticians and nutritionists that an increase in vegetables and fruits would help my health. They did NOT! I got worse!
At the time of the accident, I weighed 145 kg and was deeply frustrated as I had gained 25 kgs from what I was a few months earlier (still not good at the time yes) but now I was worse and confused!
So fast forward now to the day of my accident. 145kgs, unhealthy, worried and now with a burnt hand and no way to work, let alone do day-to-day things with one hand for months! :-(
The morning after the accident, despite the pain and lack of sleep, I began researching burns and nutrition again. Recalling the doctors’ advice about increased water and protein intake, I had a lightbulb moment. I remembered watching YouTube channels about the Carnivore and Lion Diets, particularly those by HomeSteadNow, Dr. Berry, and Dr. Chaffee. Inspired, I decided to try the Lion Diet, which consists of meat, salt, and water. I ordered an AirFryer and visited my local butcher to begin my carnivorous journey.
Unable to clean, cook, or work, I committed to the Lion Diet for seven days, while visiting the hospital every other day for wound re-dressing. Though painful, I adhered strictly to eating only red meat. After seven days, I began feeling better. By the second week, I saw significant improvements, and my primary doctor allowed me to continue treatment at a local clinic.
In the third week, I experienced severe fatigue, pain, and flu-like symptoms. After researching, I realized I needed to increase my electrolyte intake to combat withdrawal and detox symptoms. Once I adjusted my water and electrolyte intake, I started feeling better.
By the fourth week, my hand showed remarkable improvement, surprising the nurses and doctors. Despite ongoing detox symptoms, my hand’s recovery was evident. In the fifth week, I felt significantly better, reduced my pain medication, and received praise from my healthcare providers for my rapid recovery.
By the sixth week, I noticed substantial weight loss and reduced my meals to once a day, transitioning into ketosis. My expenses on food decreased as well. By the seventh week, my need for re-dressing ceased, and my clinic visits reduced to once a week.
Fast forward to 8 December, 2024, 293 days later. My hand is 99% healed, with restored sensation and nerve function. My skin is recovering well, and I have been off painkillers since weeks five and six. Over 22 weeks, I lost 47 kg (99 lbs) because of the Lion Diet and I feel fantastic. My recovery defied some doctors’ expectations, proving the effectiveness of the Lion Diet in my healing process. In summary, the Lion Diet saved and transformed my life, rebooting my body, mind, and health. It has given me a new perspective on life, and I am passionate about sharing my journey and insights to help others achieve their health goals.
